svajana-mrtyu-bhaye kahe asatya-vacana
SYNONYMS
sva-vakya—his own promise; chadite—to give up; inhara—of this brahmana; nahi—not; kabhu—at any time; mana—the mind; sva-jana—of his own kinsmen; mrtyu-bhaye—fearing the suicide; kahe—says; asatya-vacana—untruthful words "He had no desire to break his promise, but fearing that his kinsmen would commit suicide, he deviated from the truth.
